my mantis shrimps bashing appendage are chipped in the middle of the white on each one.. do i need more calcium in my system or what can i do to prevent this?

How long has it been since his last molt? My peacocks smashers are worn down quite a bit, after his next molt they should be restored. The only thing you can do to help your fellow is keep up with water changes to restore trace elements and you might also want to buy a frozen bag of silversides and switch between frozen and live snails/hermits. Also, if he is new to the tank or started new construction this can take a toll on his weapons as well.

he molted maybe 5-7 days ago and just noticed it today, when i first got him i noticed him hitting his pvc burrow, it is 2" in diamater i hope it will be big enough for him. i feed him a frozen krill every other day and he shows no interest in the damsel thats in the tank right now..

i just hope he doesnt hurt his bashers on the pvc burrow. ive only seen him hitting the end of the pvc exit on the top like hes trying to open it up

i think hes getting the basher damage from the pvc tube he is hitting.. i just saw him doing it.

the pvc tube is a U shaped structure on the bottom of my sand so his exit goes straight forward

How ofen do you offer him snails, hermits, and crabs? Mantis need these types of food in their diet to keep their clubs strong.

i have a peacock mantis

there are always snails and fish in his tank.. he hits alotta stuff i think it broke cuz he molted 4-7 days before that
