problem with pump....stalled now heat.

well id say my pump is about 3 months old maybe...iono...but anyhow the other day i came home from work to my pump off...left me thinking *** i have a battery backup...so i jeck the driver out and its got the green light on and the red light flashing.

i unplug it let it sit for about an hour plug it back in ...everything is golden...alighnment is perfect not vibrating ect.

well today i come home and put my hand on the pump....the thing is burning hot i cant keep my hand on it for more than a couple seconds and it feels as is there is now a clicking feeling on the dry side of the pump...what gives?

thanks for all the help....i sent in my waranty paper when i purchased my pump so i would think its still under waranty.

Make sure the motor isnt rubbing against the spacer

ic checked and rechecked everything.....it running fine but its hot and it has this weird clickin feeling inside it,

Sounds like my Vortech. I have one that gets really hot and another that just gets moderately warm. So far they both work fine.

The heat is not an issue. The pump is thermally protected and will slow itself down or turn itself off if it gets beyond a certain temperature. As for the clicking, that is somewhat normal as the microprocessor makes minute changes to the speed of the pump.

I am assuming that when you say it is thermally protected it has a thermistor in the pump that the driver uses. If so, did the thermal protection make it to the new WWD?

ok, well my pump seems to be lossing its stregnth now, it does not seem anywere near as powerfull as when it was new and the rattling feeling seems to have gotten worse....you think its time for you guys to check this thing out befor i chuck the dang thig?

when i first got it was exstatic....now not as much so

also i thought you (ecotech) were goin to let everyone know that has sent in the warranty info sheet about the upgrade process, im sitting here waiting to fins somthin out in the mai or via email and havnt gotten anything...now im affraid i missed out on this

And no, don't chuck it! It is under warranty and can easily be repaired. It will require you to send it in to Icecap. It will be returned to you as good as new.

I found the IceCap service to be very professional. Their communication and diagnosis were great. I had an issue very simular to what you are experiencing. Now I have no heat and no noise. Thanks IceCap! The VorTech is one of the best pieces of equipment I have purchased for my Elos 60. I really like that reef crest mode. The Acro Mille's are having a good time.
