i did it this time!
yesterday morning i cleaned my uv light, when i came home i noticed it was leaking and a substaintial amount of water had leaked out and when i went to move it, it shocked me. I turned it off and then noticed all my invertabrates were not looking happy, the brittle stars were ejecting their limbs, and i went in to action changing my charcoal, water, and adding my flossand poly-filters. upon examining the light i found the socket and pins were burned, but i do not think that the contaminant got into the tank. Now 24 hrs later the star fish, scallops, and ghost shrimp are dead. The zenias, brain coral and colt coral look almost dead, mushrooms and polups dont look much better. I had a ground wire in the tank, and in the sump. It was wired to the cold water ground, the same one that grounds my electric service. I noticed my protien skimmer was foaming alot when this happened. Also the poly filter looks clean after 24 hrs. My fish all seem to be perfect .
