problems in mixing lps sps and acros

is it possible to mix differant corals in the same tank if you provide good water circulation and put acros upstream so to speak to reduce slime ?

This is absolutely doable. My suggestion is to use carbon--IMO, it is necessary when you've got many different types of coral as they will conduct chemical warfare. Use about a cup per 50g--just throw it in your sump and change once a month.

It's absolutely possible, but make sure that everything is spaced well. LPS are rather notorious for putting out sweeper tentacles.

I agree with the others, yes....but, the bigger the tank the better. I have a 30g and it's quite difficult. When SPS thrive, other coral (LPS, shrooms, etc) do OK, but no real growth. When they excel and grow, SPS decline. Just thought I'd mention since you didn't mention what size tank you have.

Do you use carbon? I've got a 50g and the growth on everything is good.

Yes. But not religiously. And I've got a lot of life packed into a small volume

You tell me....

OMG, Greg your tank is gorgeous! Great job!
Doesnt Carbon also remove important trace elements? Thats why I thought it was bad to run it in a Reef.

Yep. So do corals;)
Just don't OD on it and supplement the ones that get taken out quickly by carbon--namely iodine.
