Problems with my acanthatrea

Hi.

I have an unidentified problem with my acans..

I have alot of acan colonies and until now they all have been growing in high speed and have been looking good.

For some time more and more of my colonies have been receding and died and I cant seem to find the problem :(

It starts with/around the edge of the polyp.. the polyp retracts itself into the sceleton.. not the hole polyp.. used a little bit/a side of it..

The part thats been retracting in to the sceleton slowly starts to die and soon after the entire polyp retracts into the sceleton.

When a part of a polyp or an entire polyp rectracts into the sceleton and dies it seems that "dirty" replaces it.. it almost looks like the polyp has been emptying itself.. like after feeding.

Does anyone else have this problem or know where I can find info about what to do?

Waterspecs are good and I have alot of other corals (and also some other acans) inte the same tank and they seem to be fine..

Will post pictures tomorrow..

It sounds like either your alkalinity is low or your salinity is off. Are you measuring your salinity with a refractometer properly calibrated with 35PPT calibration fluid?
