Problems with nano pumps?

I was told by a guy at a LFS that they are often getting back thier nano's because of bad pumps. I have a 12 gallon JBJ Dx with the stock pump on it that has been working fine since i bought it a few months ago.

Has anybody had problems with the stock pump in the past? If so, what type of pump do you recommend i buy to swap it out?

i bought a 24dx cube the first week the moonlights went out and about a month after the pump started making funny sounds so i cleaned it and it still made the sounds the next day it broke i replaced it with the nano pump kit they sell on ebay that replaces the one nozel with two big diff all i could here was there cheap fans after and my friend has the tank now he never cleans the pump and it still works like a champ a year later

My gf's nano pump went bad after about 6-8 months. They'll break easily if you stop and restart them for cleaning. I'd look into a small rio, or if you really want something reliable, eheim makes the compact pump that pushes around 100 something gallons. Its not that expensive, like maybe 15-20 bucks.

Mine went out on a Friday night at 11pm after operating for ~6 months without issues (stopped once at about 4 months, cleaned it, and put it back in service). Luckily had another tank I was *just* finished setting up, so all the livestock made a rapid move, but otherwise I'm sure that would have been a very unhappy night for me.

In my jbj 12 I use a Eheim 600 compact pump for the last 2 years almost. Great pump.
In the 24 aquapod pair of MJ900 super little pumps to.
You could use a MJ600 in the jbj12?
Or a Aquarium System 606 pump good to. My first choice.
