Profilux 3 help, main unit not working

jthao

Super Saiyan
I just got a profilux 3, got it off another board member here. It's brand new in the package and he said that he's never plugged it in or used it.
Anyways, I got it couple days ago and today I finally had some time to plug it in and play with it.
Once it powers on, it goes through the profilux logo display and then to a screen that says: clock, illumination, extras. Then the alarm light blinks on and off. Pressing any of the buttons won't do anything. Up down side enter, nothing. Only button that does anything is the "esc" button. While held down, it goes to a screen, pics below, but when let go off, goes back to the same screen before with clock etc...
What do I do from here? Is this unit broken? I'm frustrated. Please help.
First pic is of the screen that it stays on and pressing any button won't do anything. Second pic is screen that goes to whole holding down esc button. It flashes a whole bunch of things when the esc button is being held down.

Do you have a temperature probes attached to the back of the unit? Temperature probe might not be attached to the right socket, or it might not be screwed in correctly.
Verify that 1st.

U can try opening up the unit and make sure the the boards/cards are in it's place. They could have "popped" out of the sockets from shipping...

I can try to open it up and look. Thanks for the tips you guys.
I'm just really frustrated, hate buying things and then having it turn out not working or broken, even if I can get a refund for it, it's just a pita.

Thank you to you guys above that tried to give me advice!!! I really do appreciate it. Anyone whose had issues with any of their devices not working correctly will understand the frustration.
I read good things about ghl that's why I'm making the switch.
With that said, I thought that the ghl guys being quite active on here, I would've appreciated a little help from them.

Anyways: to whoever may have this issue in the future:
I opened it up like suggested, and the little black pins in the front that lays against the front facade/plate that pushes the "buttons" on the front circuit board, they were out of place. The front facade/plate has little groves in it for the pins to sit in, but it's not really tight, so some movement of the unit around (like shipping) moves the pins out of the groves and therefore makes the pins push on the buttons all the time or no contact at all, in my case the pins were basically pushed in all the time that's why it stays on that screen in pic 1 and pushing any of the buttons wouldn't do anything. I just aligned them to the proper grove and ....... Woala!!!!

Thanks again guys above ^^!!!!!

I'll explain it:
The alarm light was because the temp and ph probes weren't connected.
Pressing won't do anything because the pins were already pushing in one of the up/down/side buttons.
Holding the esc button down basically let it go back to main screen, but once let go, it automatically goes to the menu screen because pins pushing in.
While holding down esc button it flashes, because it's on the main screen where all the values scroll through like normal

Thanks!!! I'm glad you suggested that I open it. I was scared to open it because I spent so much $ on it and didn't wanna damage it more, but it was relatively simple. Thanks again!

Excellent work. So glad you found the problem and in the process got to peek "under the hood".

I wish I could have helped but been moving and completely out of the loop here for the last couple of weeks. A good friend of yours dropped me an email and when I came here I was a day late. Great work on your part and I think once you get over the learning curve you're going to lOVE you ProfiLux :)
