Profilux or Vortech issues

Hi all,

I am about to tear my hair out with this Profilux controller and the MP40ESW.

I have followed the manual - http://support.aquariumcomputer.com/...2011-09-09.pdf

About 30 times to reset, assign the controllers. My Profilux picks up the MP40ESW's (in the screen shot below I only did one assignment was getting sick and tired of it).

The screen shot shows the firmware versions etc for the MP40 and the Profilux controller.

1. Interesting on http://support.aquariumcomputer.com/...tion.php?sid=8

The latest firmware for download is 1.03, I noticed my controller which I got today is 1.06........ see screen shot.

2. I have tried the MP40ESW update mode to get the two controllers to update each other.

2.1 They flash Yellow and Blue indicating the have the same firmware.
2.2 When I do POWER cable OUT, HOLD OPTION: Put POWER CABLE in, I get Two Green and Two Blue flashes. Can't find anywhere on the net what firmware that is.

3. When the Profilux picks up the controller, for the breef time it is on and I try double clicking on the controller, Profilux throws and error: 41 then the entire profilux software closes down and I have to reopen it.

4. The next time I open the profilux software, the MP40ESW Drivers TURN OFF. If I hold OPTION in nothing, if I pull the power and power back in -turns on for a second goes to green then turns off again.

5. The ONLY WAY to turn the Driver back on -> Profilux -> Delete all assignments on the profilux and we A for Away.

I have re read, rechecked all the settings etc and nothing is working. Could someone please help me here - I would really appreciate the help

Thanks, they been quiet on this one .... local dealer is saying just bring the vortechs in for a replacement. Somehow I DONT think this is the issue.

I am baffeled that the firmare on the Vortech Controller is 1.06 and the only downloadable one on the GHL site is 1.03....

This is why only GHL can reply sorry as it firmware its beyond my scope.

RESOLVED: Replaced EcoTech Driver

I finally got the issue resolved. Took in total 10 working man hours. I eventually took the EcoTech and GHL controller to the local distributor (luckily the one distributor is the sole distributor for both products).

After a while on my own, we sat down and started diagnosing the problem.

We tried to connect my brand new MP40ESW's to their Profilux system (Which also has the Vortech controller on their Profilux - same firmware version), no luck the driver(s) would turn off as well (as per my post).

We then tried a brand new Vortech controller - same result
We tried the suppliers 4 Vortechs on both Profilux Vortech controllers - worked both picked up the 4 Vortechs.

The distributor replaced the driver's mother board on my MP40ESW - BINGO worked!

I am disappointed in EcoTech - not because of the hardware failure that happens and I totally understand that. I am disappointed because I contacted them directly on their website's "Contact us" section. Only to receive a mail basically saying - since you using Profilux Vortech controller its not our problem go talk to Profilux. The irony .... it was their problem.

Disappointed.

Glad you got it resolved. I'd be sure to reply to their email and let them know it WAS their problem and I would probably post it on their forum. You might help some others who are having similar problems.
