I retaped the pcv threaded into 3 bulkheads in my sump several times with no success. So I took one of the fittings and one of the bulkheads with me to the workday with checkinhawk and ReefArtist. We tossed around a few ideas, and Carol showed me some "thick" thread tape. I taped the fitting with the thick tape and threaded it into the bulkhead and it seemed like a much tighter fit. I bought a roll of the thick tape at Lowes and reassembled the bulkheads, with no success. As I lay on the floor between the tank and pool table, contemplating the meaning of the universe and why the %#@$& I can't seal a simple plumbing fitting, a voice began to reverberate in my head. It was a statement Carol made after I taped the fitting and threaded it into the bulkhead, and it went something like this: "I put on a lot more tape than that when I tape a fitting"!!! Well, I may be slow, but I'm no idiot. Ok, so the jury is still out on that. I disassembled the three fittings again, and put on tape until I couldn't tell there were threads, and had to work at it a little, but I threaded them in....with the help of a "new" plumbing tool I brought home from the shop. I filled the sump, ran a pipe from the return pump back into the sump and turned on the 2 skimmer pumps and return pump. They have been on for about 3 hours and no drips. So I sense progress!!!
