Things are coming along great! I love the shape of the tank and I think it is awesome how it is a bit higher off the ground. It will be like standing in front of a painting at an art gallery. If you decided to later, you could always paint the wooden stand too.

I wasnt sure about the height when I first built the stand, but I've gotten to like it since the tank is on it and I have room under it to mess around with. I actually polyurethaned the stand to make it water proof. I havent tried painting anything thats been urethaned before. Is it possible?
A buddy saw the thread and asked me about the sump. I meant to clarify this earlier....
Its a stock 55 gallon tank that I took to a local glass shop, (Kirkwood Glass for those in the area) and had them cut me 6 pieces of glass to fit inside for the baffles. They wound up being exactly 12x12 inches, and were a pain in the butt to silicone in place.
The idea behind it was to save some money, but I'm not sure if I saved any at all. The 55 was right about $100, the glass cost me $90, and the silicone was about $10...so total cost on the sump was about $200. I think thats pretty close to what a custom acrylic sump with the same dimensions and number of baffles would cost me. But I didnt have to pay shipping either...

Looks great! Very fun to see the progression. I would like to see how the return pump is plumbed into the sump. Any new pics?

Didnt get alot done today, but I did make some forward progress.
Added sand to the tank today, bought more salt for getting water into the tank, and placed the Tunze Streams in the tank.
I was also asked about my return plumbing, so I thought I'd post up some pics of it for clarification.

I placed two unions on the return plumbing to the pump because I was worried about having to remove plumbing for maintenance or for any other reason. Without them where they are, I was worried about being able to get that piece out for any reason.
I also have 3 True Union BallValves on the return plumbing. Two are on the section of pipe to the tank, and one is on the section of pipe to the pump, after the unions. The two TBV's on the pipe to the tank make it easier for maintenance. If I want/need to do some maintenance to the pump, I can close the TBV's closest to the pump, and disconnect it there. If I want to do some maintenance to the WavySea, its easier to disconnect the TBV closer to it.
I put 90lbs of CaribSea Aragmax Select in the tank, which gives me about 2-2.5 inches of sandbed. I want to wait and see what the flow inside the tank does before I add more, if at all.
Sorry for the horrible pic of the sand in the tank, but its the best way to show the placement of the Streams in the tank since they blend in with the black background. Aesthetically, (right now, with nothing in the tank), I like where they are at, but I'm seriously wondering if they are located badly for aquascaping needs. I'm strongly considering placing them in the upper front corners shooting across the length of the tank, rather than being bounced off the front of the glass.
What do you think?

Finally, put the lighting in place for the fuge...
The Fuge light is a Current-USA 30" Dual Satellite 2x65watt unit. My friend who helped me out with the stand levelling asked if I wanted it since he wasnt using it...Tried to pay him for it twice, but he refused. Not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.

I'm on board. This thing is gonna be NICE. Sorry to see you broke yoru skimmer but glad you fixed it.

I'm gonna use a Dart for a closed loop and an Iwaki 55rlt for return pump. I'm gonna have a Tunze 6000 and 6500 (converted a turbelle to a stream and it makes it inbetween a 6000 and 6100 ) for flow. My CL ports are gonna run on a OM 4 way and I plan on having them shoot out of the back wall. I'm gonna place the tunzes in the front corners facing across the length so I get some front to back flow. I don't want all my flow coming from the back. Just my thoughts but I'd put them upfront

I saw the pics of the damaged skimmer. If you have any leak problems look at a product called THF (Tetrahydrofuran), it's great for little sliver leaks as it essentially melts the materials together. The materials need to be thoroughly dry before using the solution.
Looks like it's gonna be a nice system!!

This is actually Nick's tank but I'm sure he'll be very happy for your post.
When I eventually get reset up again on a larger tank, I'll be using a Euroreef skimmer because I was amazed at how much better it worked than some of the skimmers I've used in the past.

Thank you very much for the heads up about THF. If I ahve any issues with it, I will certainly look for some. Right now the PVC glue is holding up fine.
Got water in the tank last night....dont think the sand is gonna work out in the tank....
The flow has created two monster sand dunes and exposed the front and left side of the cutting board....
Now I have to figure out a way to remove the sand....

Yellow areas are no sand...cutting board bottom.
Do you really think rock work will keep that kind of flow from disturbing the sand? I dont...but I may be wrong.

I went ahead and moved the Streams to the front left corner and split the difference between the front right corner and the overflow box for the right side...water now makes a racetrack type pattern from the Streams....the WavySea makes its own pattern...
