Project Reef Tank

Due to the fact that I am in the process of closing down the tanning salon, Project Reef Tank Needs A New Home by the August Meeting.

If it does not find a new home then I will have to sell the tank.

The Corals that have been donated can either go back to the donors or become raffle prizes.

So let's find this Project a NEW HOME.

Does the tank have to be in a business? If so, my wife has a business in Williamson, WV. If not, I would love to keep a reef tank since I am running FOWLR from my big tank. I would be willing to house this PRT. It's a 55g right?

It would be nice if we could find a public place to house the tank I agree but if not PRT should be sold and the profit should go to benefit the overall club, prizes, necessities etc.

I would like to see it go to a public Place. Perhaps senior center or someplace where general public has access, Barring that the donors can either reclaim their donation corals, or we can raffle them at the meeting. To raise money for the club expenses.

The skimmer and tank will be returned to their respective donors.

The tank will probably be sold.

But like I said I would love to see it go someplace public,.

Look into a Doctor's office ,a well respected veternian's office, a daycare or a Public library. Laws have been changing on what is and is not allowed in a daycare and public schools.

There is a lot of traffic in library's and their hours of operation would allow better access to maintain the tank. Our YMCA, The Boys & Girls Club, both of our main library's, my eye doctor, and 2 vets in my area all have freshwater tanks on display. People are naturally drawn to the tanks!

Someone will come up with a good display area! I'm working on my Doctor to set-up a tank in his office. He scuba dives regularly and loves the fish but does not have time to maintain tank....(4 kids and busy practice. I have a specialist in your area that used to have tanks but also does not want to maintain it. If he would want it in office can the club maintain it for him? He's located off Broad Street in Charleston.

That has been part of the problem in the past. It really needs to be in Nitro or close by the bridge area in St Albans as there are only a very few of us who have the time to maintain the tank. And now with gas prices being higher, it probably needs to stay close to those members who have maintained it in the past.

I agree since most of the meetings are there it would allow visitors to see PRT whenever meetings are held.

It was a suggestion, but if Cooks Funeral Home would agree and people would commit to keeping it up and not adding a burdon on the funeral home, that would be great. Should our group vote, should we have someone ask Cooks, what or where should we go from here?
