Proposed Stocking list for 55g

I'm still in the cycling stages but what do you guys think of this stocking list.
55 gallon (elos 70), with about 1 inch of sand. The plan is mixed tank, but mostly SPS.

I'll have a RBTA in there that my clown hosts only if I tear down the nano at work. It's a maybe situation that I'll move the nano's stuff into my main tank. I may build them their own tank.

Anyways here's my ideas.

qty 1: Flasher Wrasse
qty 5: Blue Green Reef Chromis
qty 1: purple firefish
qty 1: Tail Spot Blenny

Yes, firefish jump, probably my most reckless choice..
The Chromis quantity is not set in stone, I'm open for suggestions.

These fish below are in my nano, and while the clown is small I'm sure she'll need to be moved eventually.

qty 1: yellow Watchman Goby
qty 1: Saddleback clown (maybe get another if I move into new tank)

you're going to get two different answers on the multi chromis idea. my personal experience is that they will dwindle down to 1 .

Likewise. If you do firefish and a flasher wrasse, be SURE the firefish is established before adding the flasher wrasse. But you may be pushing it a bit in that sized tank.

I felt I should offer the "other" chromis answer. I had no chromis losses for 2 years in a school of 6. I lost two in a move, but the others are still good. I have a second school in another tank of 6 that has been going for 4 months or so with no losses.

Seems possible at least.

Can you tell us a little more... why do you think you are having better results than others. It seems like some folks are reporting that a bigger tank and/or more feedings per day are the reason for their success.

I tried a school of 6 chromis twice years apart. Dwindled down both times. My dad has tried also. Same results. We both have good records with healthy fish except for the chromis.

I have a school of 5 chromis. My occ clowns are slightly bigger and keep them in check. I've read keeping a odd number of them helps.

I think the odd number thing is a matter of human aesthetics. It's common also in gardening to do odd numbers of plants. Though it's thought that 6 or more and the mind doesn't really register as odd or even, just as a bunch.

Interesting. My wife feels it to be critical issue in her garden.

it kills me every time i read that odd -even idea. if that was the case wouldn't only the one fish making it an even number die ? as far as large tanks and multi feedings keeping them alive . I had seven (note the odd number) in a 265 gallon (note the large size ) with my anthias that have been fed often . still no luck .. also in with three large tangs . I wont add them again... but feel free give em a try .

Just be warned that rbta will most likely travel in that 55g and could cause issues with your coral as theres not a lot of places for it to go but left and right.
