Looking to buy my first digital camera found a canon 30D
with a canon EF50mm 1.8II and uv filterthey are asking $450 is this a fair price and would this be a good starter camara for a novis that wants to learn to shoot reefs thanks

as an amateur underwater photographer with a huge set-up, i have to say when i get a small camera, what's impressed me most, and would be perfect for a reef tank, are olympus cameras. I believe there are some that don't even require housing to 10m deep, and they also have a super macro feature, which is ten times better than canon's (what I have) macro setting.

I have a 30D in my equipment line up, and let me tell you....

These cameras are TOUGH, I paid 550$ for mine 2 years ago or so now. I don't regret buying it what so ever. I also have a EF 50mm f/1.8 and it is a very decent quality lens for the money.

Im sure you could grab some great shots with that 50mm through the glass. Under water housings for DSLR's are a bit pricey I do recall.

Good price for the camera, and lens as long as it is in good shape, and good working order.
