Protein Skimmer advice

What do you think, if this is bad what do you recommend?

I don't know because I have never owned one of these but guessing from the picture it looks way too small for a 175.

You need to go with something much better than that for your 175. Look into EuroReef, Precision Marine, ETSS, Deltec. You don't want to do this twice.

An H&S needlewheel skimmer would be a good skimmer for your 175.

lol I used that one for my 55 gallon tank back in the day. Get a skimmer for a 175 gallon will have to be atleast over 600.

Best value on the market. Euroreef performance, but without the fancy construction. You can also add a gate valve mod and recirculating mod pretty easy. It does require sitting in the sump however. They are not water tight.

Run, don't walk from the e-bay skimmer.
