Protein Skimmer dilemma 60G cube

Hi All,
So have a protein skimmer dilemma with my 60 gallon cube and I thought I would see what everyone thought. I have a cadlights TIA1150 skimmer that has been up and running for about 9 months now. I initially bought it as it has a low power draw and my LFS recommended it. I cleaned it about 6 weeks ago (had some algae growing inside it) and since then it hasn't seemed to perform as well as it has. So I've been tossing around the idea of getting a new one and selling this one off. My tank is a 60 gallon cube and I run GFO and biopellets for my filtration along with a filter sock. Any suggestions on skimmers? I would like to fit the biggest skimmer I can into the sump as I would like to start adding more SPS to the system.

I've been looking at the Lifereef skimmers, the reef octopus POV, Vertex Omega and the Nextreef NXS1. They all have features that I like however it seems like there are so many options it can be hard to decide. I know that DC pumps are the new trend but I'm not sure I'm sold on them ( sell me here). I like the vertex omega as its cone shaped and it has the pump outside the body itself. This adds more to the foot print but I image (tell me if I'm wrong please:lol2:) that it increases contact time. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help here!

Yeah that one looks nice. It basically looks to be the same design as the reef octopus POV. Is there any difference besides price between the two?

Not sure of any differences. I bought it because its quiet, has small foot print and had good reviews.

Yeah it looks like a really nice skimmer. I checked and it seems like its out of stock at the few websites I checked. How does having the pump inside the body of the skimmer versus on the outside affect contact time? I don't think it would have a huge difference but figure its worth asking

We have an Omega 150 on a 60 cube. The upcoming Omega 130 would be an even better fit for that size tank and would be $80 less.

Used Tunze 9410 in for sale forum :). But honestly, may be overkill for a 60 cube, though quite a few report great results on that size tank.

How do you like it? They look really nice. I'm a little hesitant as the multiple adjustment points seems like it could be a bit tricky to dial in.
