Protein Skimmer help...

I bought this skimmer from a RC member, and can't seem to figure out how it works, or what I need to convert it to hang on tank. It has 2 Rio pumps with it, but no clue how its supposed to work, I'm thinking I'm missing some pieces lol.
Would trade this for a smaller one if anyone needs it. I believe it's configured for a sump.

Here is a link to the manufacture

http://www.redseamax.com/support.asp They have a user manual for the new model which is similar and should give you a starting point. They used to have a PDF manual for that model and if you contact them they might be able to point you to it. HTH

I sold it and I think the low number, 25 gallons, is about right. It is just big in size. I had it on a 55 FOWLR and it was adequate. If you want corals, a 25 to 29 should be within its abilities. The mostr recent time it was used, someone borrowed it to assist an existing skimmer on a tank that a shipped-in box (or more, never saw it though he lived a few blocks from me) of uncured live rock was in. I thought it had everything needed to be freestanding or in a sump, didn't know how he'd set it up, so checked to have everything there and that was the last time I know everything was there all together. No idea when or how some pieces and connectors got separated, and I didn't recognize the tubing and valves that were in the box. And for some reason the base is turned 90 degrees around so that the tubing would interfere with the pump at the base. I didn't do that and no idea how or why someone would except maybe when they cleaned it after borrowing it, they reassembled it wrong.

I have one on my 150 and it seem to do a decent job. I have mine hanging off the sump and the pump is in the entrance chamber feeding the skimmer via poly. hose. Looks like that you have everything you need. good luck.

I traded this to a local LFS and picked up a Coralife Super Skimmer... Not sure what I'm doing still though, I have tons of microbubbles coming from the outlet filter. It did finally start to foam and drop in the cup today though. Any tips on reducing the bubbles? (Aside from installing a sump..not sure how to do all that yet lol)

There should be a diffuser on the end that you can fiddle with. Stuff they used to make called Cell-Pore would trap microbubbles.

Yea its a little box with some sponges in it, I've been playing around raising it up and down trying to find a sweet spot, but there doesnt appear to be one lol.

Try getting the sponges a little dirty. Maybe "clean" the bottom of the tank with them, shake them out and see if they work better.
