Protein Skimmer Help

Hey everyone so yesterday I got a a used Marineland 100 protein skimmer and I put it in and got it running but I seem to be having 2 issues. First it's making a type of sound as if it's pulling crazy amounts of air in which makes it kind of loud, like a woushing sound almost. I've read people say it should be silent. Second it only seems to be producing white micro bubbles from the top I haven't seen any brown nasty stuff start to build up. Although I did read this could take 4 to 5 days I just want to make sure something isn't clogged or not working correctly

Well.. skimmers aren't silent and often there is a "muffler" of sorts on the end of the airline.. Not sure yours has that..
And it can take a little while for them to start working.. Kind of doubt that the marinland is that great of a skimmer anyways..

When I first got into the hobby, I picked up a Marineland HOB skimmer that was kinda loud too. You should have an adjustment valve on the end of the airline/tubing to adjust flow of air intake. You'll want to adjust it until the water level is about 1/4 way up the center tube of the skimmer cup on that one, and check it every few hours. If you're missing that valve, you can order air line valves pretty cheap.

I don't think it's missing anything the water control valve seems to work fine, although I'm not sure if the hose underneath is kinked I may pull it out to check I hear it's a common problem
