Protein Skimmer Help

I just bought my first p skimmer. I got the Croalife super skimmer 220. It says that the pump should only be submerged at a max of 4". Why is this????? does this mean I need to make osmething to raise my skimmer in my sump????? If its deeper will it screw up the skimmer or will it just skim less effectivly???

I have mine hanging on my sump, the pump is about 4" down in the water, what you want to do is have it in an area that the water stays constantly level, or it will overflow, takes a while to break the skimmer in.

It will most likely operate better if you raise it. I dont think the water level being low will hurt the pump as long as it is submerged.

ohhh geez I didn't know if the water level changes it will change the skimming. Ohhhh man..... so if I change the skimmer to hang on my sump is that fine then if the water level changes????? I can convert it into a in sump or a hob
