Protein Skimmer Placement

Anthony,

I've read your article about where to place the protein skimmer for maximum performance. Great article and very informative!!!

I'll give a brief description of my sump.
4 chambers -
Chamber1 is dual input from tank with sand at bottom and one wall, not bubble trap.
Chamber2 is where my return pump is located
Chamber3 is where my skimmer pump is located
Chamber4 is where my skimmer sits/drains

Currently i have a filter sock on each of the tank drains as they come into chamber1 which get pretty nasty after a few days. My question is, if i install the skimmer pump in chamber1, should i remove the filter socks from the tank drains as they come into chamber1?

my understanding, of what anthony has stated repeatedly... Skimmer intake should be Raw water coming from the overflow.. Nothing before it.
My question, with it sitting the way you have it listed, how on earth is it getting water? If chamber 2 returns the water and they are seperate chambers?

good question. I should have included that chamber2 and chamber3 are joined by a 4 inch pvc pipe, so the water flows both ways.
