Protein Skimmer Silencing

I have a CADLights PLS-50 Elite. It came with a pill bottle style silencer, I was wondering anyone had any other ideas to get the air intake a little quieter.

Drill a hole in the skimmer cup and run the airline to the hole in the skimmer cup. It will be silent then.
