Protein Skimmer

I have been out of the hobby for several years. I am setting up a new 130 gallon reef tank. What is the best skimmer to purchase? The height is not important. I will be setting up my sump and equipment in the laundry room and the tank will be up one floor.

There really isn't a 'best' I don't think. I like EuroReef (assuming you have a 130g, the RS/CS-180 would be great), others like Deltec, ASM, DAS, H&S, Royal Exclusiv, whatever...

Do you have a price point in mind?

Price will be the determining factor. But you will be happy with any of the skimmers mentioned above. I'd recommend Deltec or ASM as I have more experience with them.

I like my octopus 200 on my 75g you could probably get away with the recirc model or an MSX

From what I've read and seen, the Bubble Magus seems to outperform the octopus for the price.
