Protein skimmer

Is it okay to leave the top of the protein skimmer off for a couple of days? I just bought it and left the top at the guys house. I just set up my tank and want to get it running so I am wondering if it will be alright if the top stays off for a few days till I can get it.

Depending on type you can tape down a tupperware container over the top will serve you just fine for a while check and see how full it gets if overflows dry it off

When you say top are you talking about the whole collection cup, or just the cover to the collection cup? If your just talking about the cover to the collection cup it won't really be a big deal. You might want to find something to cover it with for the time being, just cause it's going to splatter water everywhere.

If you are talking about the whole collection cup, I would not be running the skimmer with no collection cup on it. Thats just a disaster waiting to happen. :eek2:
