protein skimmers

i was wondering if i need to use one on a reef tank right know i have fish and live rock and i want to upgrade to a coral for my clown fish just a long tenical one and tips on lighting for it

protein skimmers are always a good investment. They clean a lot of crap out of the water and keep it well oxygenated which can help stabilize pH.

For a 28 g, an Aqua c Remora would suffice.
LIghting, t5s suffice for most things; metal halide if you want a clam or fussy sps.
Do you want coral or anemone? Some anemones I think might take mh...wait for an answer on that one.

Ideally, for coral, a sump, with skimmer, heater.

A good skimmer is always the best or one of the best investments, I've tried Remora/Urchin and like them a lot, now I'm off to try a Deltec MCE600, people say the later is the best of the HOB skimmers

definately invest in a skimmer, also have a good read on anemonies before you get 1, probably have to wait best part of a year first, very sensitive critters and need care, once you know what they need though through reading you will have an idea about them, ask sk8r about them she will know lots of info as well for you, good luck with the tank
