protien skimmer problems

i ran some red slime killer and had to turn off my protien skimmer. i waited appropriate time period and now turned on my protien skimmer back on. well i plugged it in and the chamber filled with bubbles and then filled the top part with bubbles that slowly fill the top chamber with water and i can't it to stop! now all the bubbles are filtering out the side of the cap on the top chamber. my skimmer has a slide tube for the over flow and i never touched it. every time i restart my skimmer i have problems. the way its running now i have tons of micro bubbles in my tank. its driving me crazy! does the skimmer do this everytime and then calm down after running awhile? what am i doing wrong? here is a diagram i made of my skimmer.

It's pretty normal for a skimmer to go nuts after adding chemicals like that. I would just empty the cup as it fills and keep adding new salt water until it has run it's course...JMO..

you can adjust the height of the water in the skimmer by adjusting the tube, wither twist or up and down depending on design.

start bu pushing it down all the way, wait a minute and observe the water level, should go up or down. if nothing go up, same observation. if neither works, rotate 90 degrees 3 times.

once you understand what adjust the water level adjust it so it stops overflowing. you will need to adjust it a couple more times to get it skimming just right. evey skimmer is different, good starting point for me has been keeping the top of the bubble water at the base of the cup. go up and down from there!
