PSA - Gaussboys epoxy coated magnets will rust in your tank

Just in case you didn't realize this and had some in your system. I had them in the tank for less than a week and all of them had some rust starting. I actually had some chips in a couple of them and didn't realize it till I saw the rust. Decided to pull them all out and saw bubbles forming under the coating on all of them. Two of them were in the overflow with nothing glued to them. Just bare magnets getting water flow. Still had the bubbles forming on them. That 'coating' is the thinnest coat of epoxy paint you can imagine. I'm doing a plasti dip coating on them now and we'll see how it goes.

I had the same problem and went to Plasti dip --- much happier now. The last set of Magnets I ordered I pre did them with Plasti dip

So what's the big deal with rust? Isn't it essentially the same thing as GFO?

Mine rusted in a week as well. They also break easy. I scrapped them and went with a gulf stream mod.

i covered mine in electrical tape and sealed them in silicon. im paraniod. no problem yet
