They are the same fish. They come from the Red Sea, so wild availability is restricted, luckily they are captive bred through most marine breeders. They go for about $30-40.
i had a very mean one years ago when they were while caught.
I have had captive bred pairs twice now, and both pairs have been mild mannered. I housed them with a pair of fathead anthias and other non-aggressive fish. Perhaps the aggressiveness had been bred out of them?

Same here. I think a lot of aggressive orchid dottybacks are actually misidentified strawberry dottybacks. Mine lived with watchman gobies and other small fish most psuedos would terrorize with no problems at all.
I had a P. friedmani in a 55 with a royal gramma with no problem at all. Both fish were very peaceful fish. Do go with the captive bred orchids if you want the more peaceful ones. CB are much more passive than wild caught...probably has to do more with being raised in large groups more than having the aggression bred out of them.
