I purchased a frag from PSP in Monroeville, and I and the guy in the store do not know what it is. It is one of their own corals on their own LR. It is on a rock in the center of the tank, it is brown, and encrusts the rock like star polyps but it does grow branchlike too. If anyone visits that store and has seen it can they please identify it. I have not been able to find its identification.

thanks,

Rick

P.S. I will post a pic in a few days, once it is settled in anyway.

I'd love to help but without a pic its very hard. What do yo mean it grows branchlike? Star polyps can grow branchlike on a rock.

I just thought that maybe someone that frequents that shop could get a look at it, there is still alot left on the rock. I don't want anyone to go out of their way, just if they were going they could take a look. I am waiting until it settles in before getting a pic. I will post one soon though. Thanks for the help. Branchlike meaning that it stays very short close to the rock, not a big stalk like Capnella or sinularia. It was easy to rip off the rock unlike most leathers. It doesnt have a calcareous skeleton like pipe organ.

thanks,

Rick

Could it possibly be a photosynthetic gorgonion. I have one in my tank that incrusts and branches and looks like starpolyps. it has a purpleish base and green polyps.

without a picture of what you purchased, it could be anything to use other reefers. it'd be easy to help you out if u helped us out with a pic :)

They still have alot at PSP, I was hoping someone else has seen it and knows what it is. I am going to post a pic, but I want to wait till it is ready.

thanks

Rick
