I do not know if this has happend to anyone, but... my porc puffer sometimes will have some of his insides come out for a couple hours when he passes waste. It worried me at first, but it would go away and everything seemed normal. Well Saturday this occured and while I was adding water to my tank the fish thought they were getting fed. My trigger grabbed the intestines and yanked about an inch and a half out of him. I freaked out and he is sepereatedin my tank so nothing can hurt him. He still swims fine and has even eaten, but I am worried. It look like about half of the intestines have shrunk back into his body. Any advise? I plan on keeping him seperated and watching him for a couple more days. Has this ever happend to anyone else?

Thanks.

I would be more worried about the first part. How long have you had him?

Could it be some type of internal parasite? De-worming with prazi-pro won't hurt anything either way.

Definitely sounds like some sort of worm. If it were his intestines, he would have died a long time ago. (The first time they came out)

Huh, I was told sometimes they would do that to expell waste, especially shells and such. Well regardless, if he doesnt make it through this the parsite thing does not really matter

prazipro is cheap and easy, I would give it a try. You can even add it to the display with no adverse affects if you need to.

Sounds like it could be rectal prolapse. Several causes including worms and bacterial infections.

I agree with praziquantil. If no success you may wish to f/u with levamisole. Available at any farm supply store and inexpensive.
