One day I hope to get a large 200 gallon tank when I move out it would be a FOWLR and would contain a few diffrent species of puffer (Porcupines dogface etc) but I would also like a volitan lionfish I have been looking around and it seems on this forum people say mixing them will work however on the puffer forum they are highly against it also those anyone have any other ideas for stock

I'm putting my porky and gsp and Ceylon with two snowflake morays in a 100g for a while :) all three puffers are under 4 inches. Not sure how he porky will react to those two cause he's smaller

The concern with puffers and lionfish (at least in part) is that puffers are fin nippers and many find the long flowy fins of a lionfish irresistible and will constantly harass the lionfish biting its fins.

Your Lionfish won't bother anything it can't swallow, however, that said,I had a large Volitan capture a small Niger trigger in it's mouth, and then eventually spit out because it was way too large and the trigger fin halted the Niger from being ,drawn in further.
I know puffers and Lionfish are also big polluters,to your marine system.I have only one fish in my 220 gallon and I find that a challenge to keep Nitrates , low, because it eats an astronomical amount of food.
