puffer behavior question

why do puffers put one or both pectoral fins into the gill opening(s)? I've had more than one healthy puffer do this. my dogface puffer is doing it now. not in any distress, just sitting on the magfloat with one fin completely inside the gill opening. once he started to swim, the fin came out. the first time I ever saw this, it freaked me out. since then, I have seen other puffers do it.

Yeah what is up with that, mine does the same thing looks kind of wierd.

I think it is normal behavior

I had a puffer that would do the same thing and put a post up and other people reported the same behavior not sure why but had seen it do it more than a few times and no problem

I freaked out when my current puffer did it the first time. I've had lots of puffers and this year was the first time I've seen it. I went in and started poking his side to see if it would come out, I thought it was going to be permanent.
