Puffer fish info?

Hi does anyone know if i would be able to keep a type of puffer in my 50 litre nano reef tank I'm guessing not as its too small from the little research i have done?

Depends on the puffer fish.

A couple of Tetraodon biocellatus (Figure 8 Puffer) or Tetraodon nigroviridis (green spotted puffer) will be fine for sure. Those actually do better in saltwater, but could be quarantined in freshwater with just a pinch of salt which makes disease control so much easier.

Some of the smaller Canighaster species should work too, but that's already pushing it.

Would they be able to live there full life on one that size or would i have to move up to a bigger tank do you think?

Well, the Canighaster actually need a bigger tank.

Tetraodon biocellatus stays with 8 cm (3 in) relatively small and might really be the only one you could keep in a saltwater nano tank. I kept them in 60 liter tanks and they did OK there.
Though there are some true freshwater puffers that stay much smaller. With 2.5 cm (1 in) the Indian Dwarf Puffer (Tetraodon travancoricus) might be the best choice if you really want a puffer.

Well, what else should be in the tank? If it's just the puffer a Figure 8 puffer should be fine.
Also, if the girlfriend or wife wants a fish that needs a bigger tank I would shamelessly take opportunity of it :D
