it can be a hit and miss at young with corals but when they get older they will most likely take chomps out of your coral. There are a few people on here who have porcs in reefs but thats only a handful of them. your inverts are appetizers.

Yeah I guess i dont mind if he eats a snail and crab here and there. As long as he leaves the corals alone. thanks for the Info Real

I have a 5 inch porc puffer in my reef for 2 years. Started out small.. about 2 inches. He is fat!! I do not have SPS. I only have softies. They are pigs!! My puffer is very active around feeding time... Only for the frozen shrimp I buy at the store for him. My wife feeds him ALOT. probably 5 peices of large coctail shrimp 2x a day. He is hand fed and has no problem eating from my hand. If I let him, Im sure he would eat till he died. lol. After he eats he goes over to a rock and lays on it and rocks back and forth from the powerheads and bothers nobody.. just happy to be full.

I have NEVER seen him near a coral. However my CUC seems to be dissapearing but I dont know if it is the hermit's eating the snails lol.

I will say, they eat A LOT, Thus Poo.. Might not be optimal for SPS.. Dunno, My nitrates are always around 5-10.

ALSO!! I have two Cleaner shrimp. My puffer loves them, After eating he goes to them and they hop on his back and ride him around and clean him. Then if he starts heading back to his area they hop off and hang out on their side of the tank. I have heard of puffers eating them, I have never seen it.

My buddy has a porc puffer in his 125 reef with just softies and couple lps and he's about 9 inches has had him for four years great fish with great personality does not both corals but will eat inverts.

Thanks Geoff I hope we can too. its better then running two tanks just so the Gf can be happy and have a puffer fish.. ill just replace inverts i guess

I just took a few with my phone, so sorry about quility. I've had him for four years, and never a problem except for with snails. Shrimp, and coral safe.

When in the 90

He looks great! We ended up not getting one. We cant put our new tank in our home as of yet. But i cant wait to have one! thanks for the great pictures!

Thanks! He is an awesome fish, but they grow very fast, and splash water out all the time. That gets old fast..
I've found that you don't really have to worry about porcs teeth like you do with a dogface puffer
