pukani is frigging awesome stuff

Ordered a bunch of dry pukani from BRS awhile back, and while i cant attest to curing it and all that yet, i can say without a doubt its porosity is insane. And its workability is even more crazy!

i had a large rock i thought was un-usable in my tank and after about 15 minutes with a chopsaw and chisel i now have a piece of rock that is somewhat similar to a shelf rock, but looks so dang cool.

yeah, thats close to what i have in my 110g tank aswell, i ordered 50 lbs, and used most of it, plus a large extra rock i already had prob right around 70-75 lbs all together, plus some biopure in the sump for extra surface area.

Just ordered mine today. 50 lbs for a 75 plus a couple of shelf rocks for corals. Can't wait! Any tips on removing g phosphates from these bad boys? Acid bath?

i think scrub and either acid or bleach and then acid is the way to go, but i decided to be lazy and just cure it in my new tank with lanthanum chloride, i'll probably regret it 6 months from now. lol

I used lanthanum chloride in a brute for 3 weeks before my pukani finally stopped leaching phosphates.

I also used lc in a brute. I wouldn't want to do it in a display tank because it made quite a mess. You won't believe how much is hidden in Pukani!! I used lc for the first 2 weeks and did a 100% water change after the first 2 weeks. Then let them soak for another 3-4 weeks. It worked very well for me so far. I have zero phosphates now. Started out after the first week with phosphate levels above what my Hannah checker could read.

Where is the best/cheapest place to get pukani? It seems like BRS has great prices, but not sure if there is another place that is just as good if not better.
