Pukani rock per gallon

As many of you know BRS features this pukani dry rock. This isn't just any dry rock. Its super porous. Because of this you won't need as much of it. So how much do you think I'd need in a 20 gallon aquarium?

Hmmmmn, is 'super porous' more porous than just regular porous? The question you ask is essentially an unanswerable one. My approach has always been to include as much rock as I need to get the aquascaping look that I want. I've never had a bacterial filtration problem.

I ordered 25lbs and got 3 large pieces... each one was 10 - 12 inches long. One was a large boulder shape... the other 2 were more irregular. Based on the those sizes, you likely won't need more that 20 - 25lbs with maybe a little extra for playing with the aquascape. If you want smaller pieces, make sure to put that in the order notes. When I ordered 20lbs of tonga shelf, they sent me one giant piece that was 20in at the widest point. It seems they like to send larger pieces, which may or may not be what you want.

I think that .75 - 1 lb per gallon is what most people would typically say is enough rock to fill the tank. I like to order a little extra so that I can pick the rocks I want for my aquascape. If you need smaller pieces just specify that in your order and I'm sure that they will accomodate. I recently got 75lbs for my new tank build and it's very nice stuff.

Rock can be useful in many situations. Its used for the DT for your scape and you can also add rubble to your sump (if you have one) to help with filtration if needed. You don't have to put it ALL in your tank. One of the best things about reefing is getting the rock scape right. If you don't like it, dismantle and start over. I love doing that!

::EDIT:: there is no such thing as too much or too little rock. I have seen some awesome tanks with very minimal rock.
