Pulse Start ballast

Will a pulse start ballast run HQI bulbs?

I bought this light setup as a PFO setup, have run it for the last 6 months without problem but have recently changed my lighting to a fixture rather than pendants. Today I found out that the pendants are SLS reef optix and not the pfos they were sold to me as. The ballast appears to be a pfo pulse start rather than a standard hqi ballast. Am I missing something here?
