These things are like weeds in mine, i think worst than weed. The amount they grow is stupid fast. This is my experience with them on the 29 cube. I have the the light that are equivalent to your Mars Aqua before that the stock light. I had a flat rock the pretty much blocked the light when there were on there. With very little light if any they stayed small and pulsing wasnt like it should be.
When i final changed the setup they look like if they were dead. Limping no pulsing. A week went buy they sported up and started pulsing. From here on out they grew non stop. They started spreading like wild fire. They were large and full that they started growing on other rocks and i had to put a stop to it. Before i did i changed the a few things around and the flow they had on them was very strong. They stayed small and a bit dark on the new rock they were growning in.
They slowly adapted to the flow and spread out and the one on the outer edge grained size the other stayed small. Move the power head and they took off like a weed. I trimmed the mother colony and pretty much nuke the other rocked they were in. I took out the rock, ran water in the and cut, scraped them out. Few weeks later there was small ones on the same rock i nuked. lol
The mother colony I trimmed down to a few only. They all looked dead... Fast forward few weeks later its growing fast yet again and spreading. I wont let it go out of hand this time.
To sum in up in my tank:
Too much flow and little light- no good.
A nice flow and light - good.

and now... They were just 3 and now its starting again....
