I have a couple frags of pulsing xenia scattered throughout my tank any one of them is sorta shrivering up and some of the heads are turning black. any ideas whats causing this?

they are hardy but mine have done the same thing and died off. I have just the black part away before and had them come back. Not really sure what causes this

i can never keep them in my tank .. they all seam to die off in a few days . i just dont get it . every thing elese is good

I have 2 small colonies - they shrivil up and are very large several time during the day. It seems to me they do that if water quality is poor - if a shrimp walks by and touches it or someing gets to close - Xenia is weird - check your iodine levels xenias need it badly.

check you Ph and alk. I bet it's in a low range. Xenia thrive in high ph and high alk. ph>8.2 alk>10

Ditto on the above.. that is one of the things i noticed about xenias too...

I had some pom that did nice until I got to much calcium inthe water. Now I have done two water and now they only live a few days.

Your PO4 is probably too low for your Xenia. They seem to like higher levels thats way they usually do poorly in sps tanks.
