pulsing xenia

I have had xenia for many years. I know everyone says they need a nutrient rich tank. I have them in an all sps tank. water quality is perfect. pulse like crazy under 400w halides. They multiply like crazy! I belive its all about strong lighting. try putting them as close as yu can to the lights you have.

My just pulse randomly, they kinda died off for some reason 1 month after I put them in the tank, but they never looked anywhere near as good as they did when I bought them. The store had MH I have t5's. I found when I moved them to the top with a medium flow, they did well. Also it seems they are really sensitve to ph, usually when they stop from a random pulse everyonce in awhile to none it has always been an indicator before something went wrong in my tank

I recently slacked on dosing my tank with phyto/ dts and my xenia started to turn down hill. first they stopped pulsing then looked to be melting. i started dosing dts again and they are happy as can be again. pulsing and growing. (just my experience)

It truly is amazing. My clowns even host it!

To get t to grow, other than having decent water params, Move it closer to your lights... They will not tolerate low pH so monitor that closely.

Xenia likes medium to high flow directly at them, agreed with bloke : you can always tell if your PH is low is your Xenias. Good indicator coral.
