Pulsing Xenia's and Nitrates

Do Pulsing Xenia's consume Nitrates. The reason for asking is I want to remove the Xenia from my tank as it's becoming a bit of a pest

If it does, you need tons of it. And it is not the only way to reduce nitrate [emoji847]

It is possible to starve them out by reducing nitrates/phosphates (carbon dosing/gfo)...problem is you will starve everything else too!...but not necessarily to death..... Xenia like a lot of nutrients so it is doable....
 
They will consume nitrate from the water column via their photosynthetic symbionts, but I agree that the uptake rate probably is fairly small.
