pump blowing sandbed

I have a 30gal nano with a vortec mp 10 it is blowing sand around on 60% the sand I am using is fiji pink . I tried moving the pump up more but it did not work would putting a heavier sand over it like the special reef grade sand from Arag- live be a good idea

What ever you do just watch your nitrates. Blowing around detritus in the sand can cause a nitrate problem.
