Pump combo for new 75 gal setup, any suggestions?

I plan on using a Mag 7 to drive my EV-180 skimmer, and an Ocean Runner 2500 as a return pump.

Good combo? Bad combo? Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

just make sure the flow rate on your return pump doesn't exceed the maximum capacity of your overlflow. I think most single 1" overflows can handle around 650 gph. The pump you are looking at does 700gph at 0 feet of headloss, so you may be walking a fine line, depending on what kind of overflow you have and the height you are pumping the water from the sump.

I would go with a mag 9 or 12. I have a mag 18 on my 75 and it's just a little too much.

It will most likely be a single overflow, with about 4 ft of headloss.

Would you suggest a smaller return pump?

The problem is, I have asked several people, and everyone seems to have a different opinion . I am completely clueless about which pump to use for each. :(

The OR 2500 is perfect for your application and much better than a Mag. I use a OR 3500 as a return for my 100G and it works great, I certainly would not go any smaller. With the 2500 at 4' head you should see about 400 GPH.
