On a typical AGA 125 gallon rr tank (standard two 1" drains and two 3/4" returns, with five feet vert. and five feet horizontal) what pump can you recommend for circulation; i.e. what is the most these overflows can handle without sounding like a washing machine. I am thinking a Iwaki 40rdx with a ball valve, but am not sure.

I use a Mag 9 on my 125. It gives me about 4 times tank volume through the sump at 4 ft of head. It works Ok for me but there are way better pumps out there. Ehiem, Ocean runner. My sump is not to noisy and I dont have microbubble problems. I dont know If I could run much more through it though.

You can run up to 1200 gph through 2 AGA megflows, but I wouldn't do this. I'd suggest an iwaki 40RLT at 750gph, or a pump rated around 950gph without head pressure like a mag9.5.
