Pump for kalk reactor?

So I built a kalk reactor, it works beautifully, except I burn through Maxijet impellers like every 6 weeks. I have an ACIIIPRO unit that turns it on and off 30 seconds every hour. Ive considered running it full time, or longer with few start/stops.

The impeller is fine except for no fins. Magnet etc is all in perfect order.

ANyone have any ideas to how to make it last longer, or a pump that might be more suitable?

Anyone wanna make me a titanium impeller? actually I know a guy that casts titanium,,, I wonder if he could do it.....

Try running it for about 5 minutes only 6 - 8 times a day. This may save a little wear and tear on your impeller.

Depends of your evaporation a day, but i think you can running 2 times a day for 3 minutes each, i'm sure that will be enough

The smallest pan world pump, which is about 200gph, works great for kalk reactors. It's a little pricey but it's very reliable and does not "over stir" the kalk, plus it seems to be really resistant to the caustic KW.

3 times a day 8 minutes.

not sure its the caustic enviro but more of an abrasive thing. kind of like pumping tooth paste. look at the runout on the shaft. with the 3 times 8 minutes my mj lasted about one year. i literally just replaced the shaft. and i found out how, here.

Shaft is fine on mine, its just the fins on the propeller part. My pump intake is about 8 inches above the bottom, so its not super thick (I dont think) where its pulling in the water/kalk. Its mostly blasting the crap out of the bottom of the chamber. It works sweet, other than this issue.

how did you seperate the parts on the impeller? Im serious about having the propeller part cast in titanium. But I dont know how to get the ends of the shaft. Im sure I could find a titanium shaft as well, so it may last much longer.....

Thanks for the help guys!

just pull them off. didnt mean thick like toothpaste only that level of abrasive, very fine. thats really odd, the impeller blades snapped off? wow

try emptying the kalk reactor of kalk and run only water and see if you get the same results. it may be something in your design. post a picture of it. would love to see your design.

Ill grab some photos tonight, (im at work) I have let it run with water, but not for a long period of time. I usually just notice it quits flowing, so I open up the pump, the blades on the impeller usually fall out at that point, leaving just a cone shape of plastic left on the impeller.

I put a new maxi 600 on it yesterday, and adjusted my ACIIPRO to run 10 minutes every 255 minutes (maximum wait time). I may just schedule it to run 4 times a day instead but wanted to get it going again.

photos to come later.
