pump outlet angle question

I'd like to have the outlet from my Iwaki return pump horizontal instead of vertical. Can I turn the front casing to accomplish this? or should I mount the pump on it's side?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm setting up a Tradewinds inline chiller and would like to avoid as many elbows as possible.
