pump question

Is a Sedra 3500 comparable to a mag 7? if not what is

sorry i forgot to add this.. would the mag 7 be a good return pump for this tank? 125 gal running a asm g2 protein skimmer

the sedra is 350 gph and the mag 7 is 700 gph. i would leave the 7 on the skimmer and get a mag 12 or 18 for the main

I think the asm g2 is sold with the sedra. I would use that. for the main I would upgrade.

I think he is saying run the Sandra on the skimmer and upgrade the return pump meaning get a bigger pump for your return the mag 7 is too small , do consider your head losses from your pluming, and such...

i was always told you want to at least turn the water over in you tank 10 times and hour, you have a 125 so at least a mag 12 if not an 18. With the 18 and the head loss you will be a little over 10 times an hour. just my 2 cents

Through a sump yes, on our 58g Oceanic we are returning about 200gph via the return pump so a little over a 3x flow through the sump
