Pump recomendations 120g

I have started what feels like a thousand threads on recommendations, but I'm trying to learn all I can to get it right the first time! I have used the search function, but many threads are outdated and/or not exactly comparable setups to what I will be using.

One of the last pieces I need in my 120g reef tank is a pump to get the water back up to the tank out of my 30g sump. I plan on piping with PVC and the tank is drilled for it. I am confused about internal vs external and what GPH pump I need. I will likely be using the Aquamaxx Cone 2 (350g) as my skimmer in the sump. 3-part sump with skimmer/refugium/pump sections.

Thanks!

Go with sicce syncra silent (basically the same pump as the skimmer). Get the 4 and run a aquamaxx gfo reactor with it too! Reactor is only 69 $ and its the best in its class build wise and function wise. The media swirls and tumbles. Everything matching will compliment each other.

I'm confused. Because I am so new I am not familiar with names and brands. From a quick google it looks like the reactor and the sincce syncra silent are two different things... the latter being about $160 and not $69.

If it is completely silent I am not opposed to the extra dough, though.

The pump cost 160 $ but puts out more gph then you need so use a gate valve with it or add a reactor for an additional 69 $. Your return pump will power the reactor. Shoot for 4 to 6x your tank volume turnover. So for 120 gallons shot for a pump that produces 480 to 720 gph. After head loss.

Try a dc pump with the controller you can dial it back without a gate valve.

I have a Diablo dc 10500 and a speed wave 3000 both are excellent pumps

this is depend on where you have your sump.

if it's right underneath the tank (4-5 ft) then the ehiem 1262 or mag7 should be plenty.

Always have a valve between the pump and the return nozzle.

On my 120 gallon I'm using a Waveline DC-6000. My return is split into two 3/4" bulkheads then 3/4" loc line Y for a total of 4 outlets.

I've been using the pump for ~2 months an am very happy with it so far. It's also controllable so you can adjust your return volume.
