So after two moves, three set ups and 6 years I finally had to replace my JeBao Return Pump. I had a 12000 that I ran at 3/4 full. I replaced it with a new JeBao DCP-15000 thinking I could run it at lower settings and get even more reliability and quieter.
I will say, the pump even running full out is much quieter than the old one.
My question is.... Can I have the pump too high? Meaning can I cycle through the tank too many times?
I have a 120 (2'x2'x4') with about 30 gallons of water in the sump. The pump goes from 0-105 watts.
To cycle 150 gal 5 times, I would set it to about 20 (750 Gallons/H)
To cycle 150 gal 10 times, I would set it to about 40 (1500 Gallons/H)
I realized if I go higher and increase the flow, my returns are quieter, with almost no gurgle. I'm at 65 now which is about 2450 Gal/hr or 16.3 cycles
Can this do any harm? I've tried everything else to get rid of the gurgle, tubes in the pipes, etc. and nothing got this quiet.
I also know that bends and height will cause the actual flow to reduce...
So again, am I going to hurt anything.
It's not kicking up sand and none of the corals are getting blown away.
