Pump suggestions for a 185

I'm in the process of building a 180 gal also. I was thinking of the reeflo Baracuda, it pumps 4,200 gals an hour. but I think after all the pluming is in, it will be down to about 4,000 and I can always tune it down if needed. What do you guys think??

My 185 has an Eheim 1262 and it's been great. Quiet... Very little added heat. I'd buy it again.

Mag 12/18 will put out a bit of heat, but that's what i've been using for many years and it works great for me. Eheim would probably be a better choice but I have no experience with them.

I currently have a 180 gallon main display tank with a 75 gallon Refuge/Sump. I highly recommend using a Sequence ReeFlo Super Dart-Gold Pump. I'm currently using one on my system. Its the only pump I'm using. I have it set-up so that it flows water through a manifold, then distributes the water to all my equipment and returns water to my main tank. I love it.

Hope this helps.

I had a Dart on mine it was too much flow going through the sump. I now have two Eheim 1260's and couldnt be happier. You could put one 1262 on there.

It depends if your using the pump for circulation only. My pump runs through a manifold which supplies water to my Protein Skimmer, Chiller, 3 Media Reactors, and additional flow to the sump as well as 2 returns to my main tank. One pump does it all. Thats why I like the Super Dart Gold.

I am in the planning stages (ordered some equipment already though) and I will be using an internal pump. I picked the Ehiem 1262. Never used it before, but the million great reviews I read about it can't be all wrong :) Main tank circulation will not be the goal of this pump. I have 2 vortechs mp40w's that should take care of that.
