wife wants the sump in the basement in our new house plus a frag tank in the future.calculated head loss is about 10ft what would be good choice of pumps.

Check the Sequence pumps. I have a Barracuda for a 120 basement sump and a 180 dt. You might want one below that...Personally, I wouldn't mind more flow from mine.

I'd suggest something along the lines of a Blueline55HD pump. With that much height you are going to need a pressure style pump, and just the head pressure from basement to tank is going to necessitate a fairy beefy pump. From there you just need to determine if there will only be 1 return line back to the tank and if you want to tee more things off of the pump ( other than a possible frag tank). I've got the blueline70 powering my 120gal, feeding 2 returns and a frag tank and teed off to my media reactors and its just right. I tried the blueline55 and it just wasn't enough for my setup.

I would use a head calculator and then look up every pump that can pump in the range you are looking for... that will probably cut your list to only a handfull of pumps, a sequence style, a mag style and then an Iwaki style. From there decide if you want to drill your sump or not, look at cost of pumps and also look at energy comsumption, sounds like a lot but you will widdle the list of possible pumps down pretty quickly.
