You might not need to shut off the pumps. If the animals can ingest the food with them on, that's easier, and avoid the popular "I forgot to turn the pumps back on" problem. Many of the LPS are more predator-oriented at night, and that might be a good time to feed.
I turn off my skimmer when I feed phytoplankton, but I use a countdown timer to turn it back on, so there's no "forgetting" issue.
